I had an amazing time at the Fan Days convention this weekend! I met one of my favorite actors in the horror world, Mr. Robert Englund, and we talked about the much-anticipated sequel to Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Much to my delight, he seemed very confident that there would be a sequel, and he would be in it. Then, I got in line to meet Alan Tudyk. Two hours later, I met Wash himself, and we discussed a possible sequel to the horror comedy Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. Despite the long line, I couldn’t help but smile at Alan’s excitement over my Tucker and Dale poster. He was definitely worth the wait. Unfortunately, Bruce Campbell autograph tickets sold out before I could buy one, but my leftover funds provided enough worth to meet Felicia Day instead. Her line was a lengthy one as well, but she, too, was extremely kind to each person that walked up to her booth. Overall, the weekend was a very exciting experience, and I’m glad that I chose to attend. I would highly recommend Fan Days to anyone who has ever thought about going. There were many vendors, with items ranging from comic books, to Firefly DVDs, to horror themed shirts. Some of my favorites were: Ta Da Boutique, Pallbearer Press, and Piranha Toys. I was also ecstatic with the amount of fans that wore costumes to the convention. Because I had only been to horror cons before, I was more accustomed to either horror shirts, or the complete costume, with full makeup and everything. Don’t get me wrong, I love going to Texas Frightmare, but there was a special kind of feel to Fan Days that I hadn’t experienced before. It seemed that nearly a third of the fans showed up in cosplay on Saturday, bringing a certain fantastical element to the event. I will definitely be attending again next year.
