Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman is being adapted into a film by Jenny Januszewski. King has a reputation for allowing his work to be adapted into screenplays for a few pennies in return. This case is no different. The Boogeyman is King’s latest “dollar baby”, meaning that the screenplay writer was able to adapt the story while still holding onto enough money to create a film without an overwhelming financial setback.
Many famous authors demand a high price when asked permission to use their work for a movie, but not Stephen King. He has always been very compassionate when it comes to the film industry and struggling screenwriters. For only a few cents, King will allow anyone to adapt his writing into a screenplay. The latest filmmaker to take up this offer is Jenny Januszewski. Januszewski won Best Experimental Film in the 3D Film Festival L.A. 2011 for her movie The Shadower 3D. She has already received a lot of praise from filmmakers, and is expected to create a very intriguing adaptation.
The cast for this film includes: Virginia Newcomb, Dane Nielsen, Sam Brilhart, Claudia Januszewski, Allison Allain, Gavin Baker, Christine Mascott, Livy Fitts, Akle Kotabe, Morgan Januszewski, and Benjamin Trudell.
